5th Grade Literacy Teacher

What do you enjoy doing in your free time and on weekends?

I love food, so cooking and going out to eat are two of my favorite activities. I also love skiing, hiking, reading, camping, and hanging out with my dog, Wilson.

What is your favorite childhood book and why?

When I was younger, I first fell in love with the book Madeline. I enjoyed reading a book that rhymed and my imagination would go wild thinking about what it would be like to live in Paris. As I got a little older, I became obsessed with all of The Babysitter’s Club books. I found their lives very relatable.

What is your secret talent?

Before teaching, I was an interior designer! I have my undergraduate degree in interior design and I worked in New York City and Connecticut designing apartments and houses from the ground up. I love putting together people’s homes. If you ever need design advice, come see me :)

Who was your favorite teacher in elementary school and why?

Although I loved many of my elementary school teachers, my first grade teacher, Mrs. Finnigan, stands out as my favorite because she helped me find my love for reading. Mrs. Finnigan encouraged us to read anything that we wanted, whether it was a book, a magazine, or even the back of a cereal box. She said that reading would help with everything we do and this is a philosophy I have carried with me as I begin my teaching career.

Why are you proud to teach at Fairview?

I am very proud to teach at Fairview because we are such a tight-knit community of learners. In just my first few months of teaching here, my students have taught me just as much as I have taught them. All of the teachers and staff care deeply about our Fairview families. I believe it is rare to find a group of people who care about one another as much as everyone here at Fairview does.
